After all these years…

After visiting The Apple Store numerous times over the past two months or so, my decision was made and it wasn’t easy.

I’m making the switch. The big switch.

The move from Wintel to Apple.

A no brainer if you ask me. Any Mac users out there got some tips for a complete Mac newb?

Do not run VPC in Panther, Windows takes over and you can’t do anything else. Works ok in Jaguar from what I’ve heard.

Depending on the size of your HD, get either a 20GB or 40GB iPod, they make great backups.

Already have an iPod and I absolutely love it!

    SAY IT AIN’T SO VINNY!!!

  • http://www.insignificantthoughts.com Vinny

It’s absolutely so. I can’t wait to get it!

Then I have a real excuse (other than my iPod) to go to the store on Prince Street! (Like I need an excuse? lol)

Mog: Jaguar is the latest? Or is it panther?

Hmm. Quietly switching to WordPress, too, I see.

One must wonder, with all this change in the air, if there won’t be other surprising developments in the future. Say, November?
    :)

    Hey… Areen’t you a mac user?

  • http://www.thesteelcage.net Davey

I’ve been thinking about buying a Mac for a long time. THINKING about it…

  • http://www.robertkbrown.com RKB

Nope. But I haven’t bought a new PC (or laptop) in about four years. However, I am so sick and tired of supporting Microsoft’s Patch Department that my next significant technology purchase will most likely be a 12″ or 15″ PowerBook.

you are a wise man, vinny. enjoy the best computer you’ll ever have the pleasure of using!

I’m still slogging away on WinTel, but I’ve never had a problem with recommended Macs to people. I’ve worked alongside Mac users for years, used them occasionally, and they still impress me. I have noted that they’ve gotten a little buggier since the introduction of OS X, but that just means they have 1.5% as many problems of the WinTel PCs, instead of 1.0%.

Not too keen on your change in blogging software or host, though, it seems to be hosing things up on the comments page here.

Panther is the latest and not as stable as Jaguar thou it has some neat features. Browsers, currently using Safari. Powerbook, wait a little while and Apple should be releasing a G5 Powerbook now that they have cooler G5 chips.

  • http://www.thesteelcage.net Davey

Wow, you all sound like a bunch of smart people. I think I’m gonna quietly back out of the room now and go eat some mustard crackers.
