sorry Vinny, but unless you personally saw this man with the rifle in his hand you are speculating.
And i don’t mean to say that this guy is innocent. Or that all police are liars. Just that mistakes do happen, corruption does exist, and records, witness reports, etc. do, sometimes, get manipulated.
For that simple fact, and it is a fact, I think death penalty is unjustifiable.
And Nathalie, does his family deserve to go through the pain that his victims’ families did? Or are they killers as well?
his family? nobody took away their child/parent/friend/spouse in cold blood like he and his cohort did time and time again. he *chose* his fate with no regard to others– his victims OR his family. are you saying that punishment for a crime should account for the criminal’s family’s feelings?? HE’S the one who disregarded the pain they may go through, not the justice system. our justice system works like no other. he will have opportunity after opportunity for YEARS to appeal this verdict and sentence. they were caught, they admitted their crimes. there are times when the death penalty is justifiable, and this is one of them. but I don’t expect europeans to support the death penalty. that’s not a jab, it’s just the difference in philosophy across the pond. and I totally see where you are coming from– mistakes can happen.
for what it’s worth, if this guy was my son or brother, I’d be ashamed and feel terrible for what he did to others.
Xenmate: People like you are the reason criminals are on the street and not in jail. You know absolutely nothing about this case, otherwise you wouldn’t be saying what you’re saying.
Are there instances where people are wrongly given the death penalty? I’m sure there are. In this case, the man is guilty, end of discussion. No police corruption. The car was rigged as a sniper platform and registered in his name. The gun had his prints all over it. They were in other cities at the time of similar styled murders.
Yet you choose to believe that unless you personally watched him commit a murder, he’s innocent and any amount of evidence found only amounts to speculation.
It’s that mentality that drives me nuts about liberals; a perpetual desire to protect criminals irresepective of either their crimes or the families of the victims.
xenmate- I can guarantee you that if my son/brother went on a spree like these vile humans, it would be long after any relationship we had would have ended. I don’t associate with people like this, blood relative or otherwise. I believe in punishments that fit the crimes committed, so I guess that means I’d let the justice system do its job. but this is just speculation on my part, because I would NEVER associate with people capable of this kind of crime.
Vinny, shut up, please, and stop talkin out of your arse. I never said the guy is innocent. And I don’t want to see him free in the streets. God knows where the fuck you got that idea from. I always advocated life imprisonment as a much harsher sentence than death, and one that has the extra advantage that it is revocable in case something did go wrong.
By the way, please note the attack on my country by Al-Qaida, or ETA, or both… No one has called for a war, no headlines such as “Spain under attack”, no fucking hysterics like your lot in 9/11. That’s the difference between a mature democratic society and a young, rich, spoilt, obnoxious nation like yours.
Wow Xenmate… Didn’t realize 3000 Spaniards died yesterday. Must’ve misread the headlines.
You can’t expect a similar reaction to a very different magnitude of attack (magnitude is like the severity, in case your america-hating brain can’t comprehend big words).
As for your other anti-american screed, well thanks for finally coming out of the america hating closet. I knew it all along, but it does add quite a bit of, I don’t know, class to what you say.

i don’t support this veredict for a simple reason: misscarriages of justica have happened before, might happen again.
sorry.

Yeah, but the guy was caught red-handed with the weapon…
I definitely understand what you’re saying, but there’s no doubt that he did it. Other cases, maybe, but this one is open/shut.
