Double Standards

The questions have already started today… Why is the President not testifying publicly? Why is he not testifying under oath? Aren’t the american people “owed” a transcript of the testimony?

Question:

WHERE WERE ALL YOU THE DAY CLINTON TESTIFIED? WHY DIDN’T ANYONE ASK HIM ANYTHING ABOUT HIS TESTIMONY, OR WHAT HE OWED THE AMERICAN PEOPLE? WHY DID HE SLIP INTO TESTIFYING THE SAME DAY RICE TESTIFIED (SO THAT HE WOULDN’T BE NOTICED?) WHY DIDN’T ANYONE ASK HIM ABOUT A TRANSCRIPT? WHY DIDN’T ANYONE ASK HIM WHAT HE HAS TO HIDE? WHY DIDN’T ANYONE ASK HIM ABOUT THE IMPRESSION THAT GIVES THE AMERICAN PEOPLE?

Come to think of it, why didn’t anyone in the press, or any of the cacklers like Monica Gabrielle or Kristen Breitweiser publicly ask Bill Clinton or Al Gore anything before or after their testimony?

Because they just don’t care and they have no interest in getting to the bottom of anything, just blaming Bush.

And the willing accomplices in the media are just salivating over Bush testifying, while they completely ignored the fact that Clinton did the exact same thing.

As is usually the case, a Bush Critic(tm) always manages to get the front page and the lead story.

Why? My humble guess would be that maybe it’s because he is not the president and he was not in charge when it happened.

Just a thought.. I’ve been wrong before

Ahhh, but according to the captured Al Qaeda douchebags, the planning began in 1996, and according to what’s come out at the commission there were numerous 9/11 related issues (that we missed, although I don’t blame them for missing) throughout his Presidency.

This plan wasn’t hatched, orchestrated, and executed in one year, and so far I don’t see any seething for the blood of bill the way we see it for the blood of George…

You can pick any “start date” you want for the planning, depending on where you want to fix the blame…and everyone has. Pointless finger pointing.

Bal, with all due respect, just listen to what I’m saying and put your liberal glasses away.

What I’m saying is that we know this didn’t happen in one year, yet the finger pointing from people like Kristen Breitweiser seems only directed at Bush.

I’m not looking to place blame, but I have a real problem that none of it is being directed anywhere but at the current President. Being consistent and asking the same of the previous President wouldn’t kill her. If this President is to be criticized for not testifying publicly and under oath, so should the previous one.

Is that so difficult to understand?

Or shall I explain it a third time just for shits and giggles?

It’s cool Vin – I see what you’re getting at.

Um…Vinny…with all due respect, I’m responding to the two comments above yours…and agreeing with you. Not sure what glasses you’re wearing, but give them a wipe.

Um… Bal, with all due respect, could you explain how #4 agrees with me?

  • balbulican

Well, Vinny, with even more respect that is due to you, and with an extra dollop of respect for operating this excellent site, and with an additional wafer-thin additional serving of respect for being such a swell guy, I would certainly hope that #4 agrees with you, since you wrote it.

With so much more respect than is even perceptible by humans, and then an additional measure of respect for being a regular commenter, I meant number 3…

You know, there comes a point at which the term “respect” just ceases to convey the depth, richness, complexity, and warmth of the emotion that surges from the tips of my toes right to the outer strands of graying hair at the mere thought of your name, and of this fabulous blog. Dang it, we need a new word here. I’ll call it …furshwanglenshtecklemenshen. So, V., with all due furshwanglenshtecklemenshen…

    ummm…

I forgot what we were talking about.

bal just when i think i’m begining to get a handle on that powerfull command of the english language you lavish on us mere mortals, you go and start speaking some obscure Canadianesse, furshwanglenshtecklemenshen!! What the hell are we supposed to do with that? I’m not even sure that’s how you spell it! And to think people say we Texans speak funny, we ain’t got nuffin on un’s.

  • balbulican

Kevin, there’s nothing to be done with it at all…just clutch it close to your heart and trot it out on rare occasions like this when Regular Old English fails us.
