Weight Loss Update: Dammit

Okay, so I’m so used to success that failure doesn’t sit well with me.

Okay, so I’m exaggerating and this isn’t really a failure, but still…

I stayed the same as last week. 301.

Not that that’s so bad; in reality considering how inactive I was this week, I’d say it was pretty good.

It’s just kind of a bummer when you’re used to dropping a pound or two a week and you don’t lose anything one week.

Oh well. Believe me, I’m not discouraged, just a little disappointed, that’s all…

Ummm, Vin, atleast you didn’t GAIN weight, you know :) Standing still, while worse than going forward, is better than falling backwards. Just don’t stay there too long. Keep going towards your goal. I know you can do it! You know you can do it!… so do it! :)

This isn’t a set back, Vin. I told you from the beginning to not get discouraged or frustrated when you hit a plateau. They happen. No dieter likes them and those of us who diet or have dieted know that we can cross our fingers and wish on a star to never hit plateaus but it’s not going to stop them from happening. Chin up!

Like Davey said, at least you didn’t gain anything. Keep slogging on.

As I said, I’m just a little disappointed, but I’m nowhere near discouraged. I can drop a pound or two in a day (I guarantee that after tomorrow I’ll lose a pound or two because I’m going to be very very busy and active).

I’m not losing any sleep over it, it’s just something I haven’t head to deal with much.

More kudos to you, Vinny, for limiting your updates to only the good news. There are always ups and downs. Nature of the beast. But it’s much easier to ignore the downs and trumpet the ups.

Kudos to you for talking about both.

Umm. I meant to say “for NOT limiting your updates to only the good news.”

    Where’s your “preview” button, anyway?

V., this is a completely normal stage in any weight loss program, one you have to be ready for psychologically. You WILL hit a series of plateaus where your weight remains stable, or sometimes even rises by a pound or two. It’s actually a good sign…something interesting is happening to the way your body is metabolizing stored nutrients (read fat). If you keep up the diet and exercise, you will experience another relatively rapid (but not so large) loss, then a slower loss, then another plateau.

That’s just how it works. You are absolutely ON track.

IT’s ok. One week of staying the same weight is fine. As for me, I’ve plateaued at 190 for the past 6 months. I got down to 185 when I got food poisoning, but it quickly returned to 190 when I got better.

Just ignore it and keep forging ahead; it’s a long road to success, but once you get there, it will be great!
