So you’re poking fun at a man whose convictions are so strong that he is willing to do broadcasts for free? Also, check the ratings for Frankens show. In the areas lucky enough to hear his broadcasts, they surpass that of Rush Limbaugh- who many consider the god of the political talk show forum. If you find this funny you should check up on the ratings of his books

    Ratings?

    You’re not comparing Franken’s ratings to Limbaugh’s.

    His convictions?

He’s not doing it for free because of convictions; he’s doing it for free because no one cares what he has to say.

Please. Stop inflating Air America into something it’s not. What it is is a colossal failure in ratings, marketing, and content. If you like it, you’d better soak it up; it won’t be around for long.

Al’s convictions may be such that he is willing to do it for free. The sad thing is that he’s been spouting the (AAR) party line about the state of their financing. If AAR’s finances were as good as Franken, et al., say they are then Sweatshop Al wouldn’t need to do it for free.

The fact is liberal talk radio cannot compete in the open market. They had to buy their way onto the air, backed by the DNC and leftist investors, and their ratings are not conducive to being on the air for a long period of time.

This has been tried in the open market and failed (many times in NYC, a liberal city). People won’t listen to it in an open market, and buying your way into the market doesn’t mean people will listen to you either.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., a period that includes Franken’s show, WNTD pulled in 3 percent of 25-to-54-year-old listeners in Chicago. That number puts the fledgling network in the same league as WGN-720 AM, which scored a 2.1 percent share of the same demographic, according to the extrapolation of April figures. WLS-890 AM, which airs Rush Limbaugh during the same period, beat WNTD with a 4.8 share.

But in New York, where Air America still broadcasts over WLIB-1190 AM, the network beat Limbaugh’s station, Disney-owned WABC, among both 25-to-54-year-olds and 18-to-34-year-olds during the 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. period. In the 25-to-54 demographic, WLIB garnered a 3.4 share to WABC’s 3.1; among 18-to-34-year-olds, WLIB won sevenfold with a 2.9 share to WABC’s 0.4.
