Advisers to the Democratic candidate, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, have said they hope to use the report to show that the Bush administration was inattentive in the summer of 2001 to threats of a possible attack.
“I’m not looking to cast blame,” Kerry said Wednesday in an interview with NBC News’ Tom Brokaw. “I’m looking to take America to a safer place.”
But he said, “I believe there are things we could’ve done in the last three years since 9/11 – in the last two years – we haven’t done.” He did not elaborate.
Of course he didn’t. The best part of his plans is at the bottom of a paper shredder in Sandy Berger’s office.
I think the part I highlighted really just speaks volumes on its own. But let’s put this in perspective. John Kerry thinks there are a lot of things that could be done. Could that be why he’s missed so many votes? He’s missed 89% and his partner, John Edwards has missed somewhere around 50%. Hard to get a whole lot done on the issue of national security when you don’t show up for the job that conrols it.
Also worthy of note is that just a year ago, John Kerry talked about how the threat of terrorism was exaggerated by the administration to cause fear.
“I think there’s been an exaggeration…” he said.
There has been. Calling you a Senator is quite an exaggeration. Show up for work once in awhile and maybe I’ll change my mind.
