Feeling the burn…

So today I went to Evil Corporate Entity Headquarters Wal-Mart and practiced capitalism in a very satisfying way.

One of the things I promised to do back in January was to change my life in as many ways as possible. That included losing weight (check), eating better (check) and being more active.

Being more active has come slowly. I take the stairs at work (8 flights), the stairs at the train station, I walk up the escalators rather than ride them up, and I walk to a train station that’s 4 blocks farther from my office than my typical station. As helpful as that has been, I didn’t really feel I was doing enough.

That is, until today, when I decided I wasn’t going to sit around anymore and just do the “little things.”

Meet the newest member of my family:

Oh man do I love it. I took it out for a ride today. I felt like a million bucks. Sure, I only rode it about a mile, and was absolutely exhausted when I got home, but it felt great, and when I got home I just gleamed happiness. It was a good purchase, and one I’m sure will enhance the success I’m having losing this big fat body I’ve accumulated quite nicely.

Oh yeah, this is going to be a fun summer!

I’ve been keeping Gary updated on your progress and we are both very proud of you. Keep up the good work and have fun spending money on new good toys. It’s great.

Vinny, Ya gotta know bud that I count you as a friend and all and as such if your really thinking of moving to Texas you gotta know that men don’t gleam (well some do, down on Harry Hines Blvd. in Dallas, but by and large men don’t gleam).
Another quick observation, Peddling your ass around town may or may not mean the same thing down here as it does up there.
    Nice bike by the way.

Good job on the biking Vinny – I took it up the summer before last and it’s not only relaxing but I dropped a few pant sizes and improved my ‘wind’ as well.

Contrary to popular belief us liberals go to WalMart as well – why I was there just last year for buy nothing day. We had a nice long shopping cart train on the go……. not buying a darned thing :-)

*SIGH*….my bike got stolen only two months after I bought it.

    Schwinn–Captain Kangaroo would be proud!

Geat way to get excercise with little strain in the knee joints.

Keep it up, Vinny. You’re on the right course!
