Dems tug Bush into flip-flop flap (AP)
WASHINGTON – While working relentlessly to portray Democrat John Kerry as a “flip-flopper,” President Bush has his own history of changing his position, from reversals on steel tariffs and nation building to reasons for invading Iraq.
Most recently, Bush did an about-face on whether the proposed new director of national intelligence should have full budget-making powers as the bipartisan Sept. 11 commission recommended. Bush at first indicated no, then last week said yes.
“The guy who is the ultimate flip and flop is this sitting President,” said Democratic Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware.

Flop:
Kerry’s Wife Calls Bush Inflexible
By EMILY FREDRIX, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON – Teresa Heinz Kerry said Monday that President Bush (news – web sites) is unwilling to change, a character flaw that shows “inattention and indifference” rather than strength.
Speaking to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the wife of Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news – web sites) said her husband is a more capable leader who would respond to issues important to Hispanics, something she said the Republican incumbent has not done.
She said of her husband, “His value in understanding complexity and not being afraid to face it and take action and follow through have been a trademark throughout his life.”
Of Bush, the Republican-turned-Democrat said the president “demonstrates he cannot and will not change. The president thinks this shows strength when all it shows is inattention and indifference.”
I guess this shouldn’t surprise me. Most people can’t seem to make up their mind whether Bush is an evil maniacal genius or a bumbling idiot, so it should come as no surprise they can also call him a stubborn unchanging flip flopper.
