He Can’t Die Soon Enough

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) – An ailing Yasser Arafat collapsed Wednesday night, was unconscious for about 10 minutes and remained in a serious condition. A team of Jordanian doctors was urgently summoned to treat the ailing Palestinian leader, whose wife headed to her husband’s side from Paris.

If I crossed my fingers any harder, they’d turn blue.

The biggest killer of Jews since Adolf Hitler. Its about time he got what was coming to him.

Anyone here believe that he’s just an “old guy with the flu” ?

I wish he was a dead old guy with the flu.

All these old leaders have to die someday

  • http://www.insignificantthoughts.com Vinny

    Can someday be today?

    PLEASE!?

I will go out and do a rain dance to the death gods — just for you.

Don’t say I’ve never done anything for ya.

This piece of excrement terrorist will hopefully burn in hell with his 79 virgins or whatever it is. This is the animal that is responsible for thousands of death’s in the Middle East. This is the man that has done nothing for his people (Palestinians) except use them to accumulate more power and money. (He is reportedly worth Billions) Even in death, he plans on leaving his people in chaos since he refuses to appoint a successor. He also wants to stick it to the Jews one last time after he finally kicks the bucket by insisting that he be buried in Jerusalem. To others he is a serious world leader however. Terrorist Arafat was a frequent guest at the Clinton White House. (# of times at the Bush White House – ZERO) Senator Kerry once referred to him as a “great statesman”. I believe that he’s a past winner of the Nobel Peace Prize! Most sane people however will agree that the world will be a lot better off when he finally croaks!

I don’t understand this jubilation, for two reasons.

Israel has just taken a huge, brave step by pulling out of Gaza. If Arafat dies, there’s going to be huge wave of mourning, demontrations, etc throughout the Palestinian world, and probably some violence: it would be a shame to see whatever goodwill engendered by Israel’s move wasted.

More important: Arafat represents the secular wing of the whole Palestinian liberation movement. There are also strongly Islamist factions which he has held in check, several of which are vastly more hostile to the US and Israel than Arafat.

In some ways, the devil you know might be preferable.

Arafat has also done zero to reign in the terrorist organizations that operate on his bankroll. See, the problem with Arafat is not so much that he can’t do anything, it’s that he refuses to even try.

He was offered almost everything he wanted by Ehud Barak and refused.

    He continues to finance terrorists.

While he’s worth 3 billion dollars (probably more at this point), his people live in squalor.

To say Arafat’s death would be a blow to peace is to intone that his life and actions perpetuate peace in some way. I’m sorry, but I just don’t see it.

There’s a lot of blood on his hands, and he needs to die.

How would you characterize the risk of a more radical Islamist successor?

  • http://www.insignificantthoughts.com Vinny

Well, let’s see. What happens if a radical Islamist successor takes over: Israelis die and then they retaliate and Palestinians die.

What happens if Arafat dies: Israelis die, and then they retaliate and Palestinians die.

The only better part of scenario two is that Arafat is dead.

Pardon me if I don’t weep.

Jubilation or not over his impending death, he is going to die soon. He is old and he is in very poor health, that’s how most people die. Because people like Vinny and myself don’t shed any tears over the inevitability of his death, won’t hasten his death. Whether he dies now or a year from now, the problems of a post Arafat Middle East will be the same.
Second. Mr. Arafat has refused to groom or appoint any successors, if anything it is his selfish evil greed for power that may open up the door for a more extreme Islamic leadership.

“if anything it is his selfish evil greed for power that may open up the door for a more extreme Islamic leadership.”

Exactly. You’re focusing on the first half of that sentence: I’m focusing on the second.
