Have a laugh, then think…

Anyone here knows I’m not a fan of the ACLU and their idiotic witch hunts that they go on from time to time. However, something I saw from them really gave me pause…

Think about it though… How far from that are we? Really?

And if the best part of your argument is “I have nothing to hide, I don’t care,” then don’t bother putting anything in the comments. I’m looking for something a bit more insightful.

How long before all your information is tied together? I know Domino’s already has a system like this in place, and has had it in place for a long time. Do you really think it’s too long before Dominos starts mentioning to you that as an AOL subscriber and Domino’s customer you can save 50% on a subscription to Time’s Cookbook of the Month club?

The idea chills me. It really does.

I was just reading about this and the FBI’s Carnivore program. It was built to scan ALL emails on the Internet. They got a bunch of grief, and recently stopped using it…..

Now they’re using public companies to do their dirty work. They don’t have any of the reporting safeguards because they aren’t gathering the info – they’re just end-users.

Here’s some info on some of those private companies, and what they’re doing to aggregate private info for resale(reg required):

It is scary, and even though I feel that I have nothing to hide, it still enrages me because my life is nobody’s business! The implications of this kind of big-brother technology are profound! If this is not stopped one will not be able to purchase anything without someone somewhere knowing the most personal aspects of your life. I’m sure big business will push forward with these tactics so they can analyze your purchasing patterns, and even your medical history! Many corporations would love to know what your genetic background is so they can estimate how many sick days you may cost them before they hire you. As far as fighting terrorism, why not concentrate on protecting our borders and better screening who is coming into our country and why.
