Ummmm… Whatever…

February 22, 2005 — CHER is not a fan of the younger generation of pop stars. During a concert in Auckland, New Zealand, last weekend, she told 20,000 fans: “I’m not going to give up show business but I’m going to give up touring because, you know, there are all of these young girls coming out like Britney [Spears] and J.Lo.” The crowd booed at the names and, according to New Zealand wire reports, Cher smirked: “I know — they are ho’s, aren’t they?” A rep for Spears and Lopez told PAGE SIX: “For someone who has had their fair share of bad press, it is surprising she would comment on two women she hardly knows.”

I guess she’s basing it on stage attire, which of course is an accurate measurement of weather or not you’re a “ho,” right? Well in that case, remember this getup from Ms. Cher?

Not for nothing, but that isn’t really the pic I was looking for but it still makes the point. Anyone really remember the one from the If I Could Turn Back Time video? I mean, if we’re judging artists by what they wear…

She has been making this same statement since the tour began. It seems that it only now got picked up by the press.
But you are right Vinny. It does seem odd that Cher would be mud slinging at others.

Vinny, I have the DVD of Cher’s concert and she makes a similar statement on it. I do like Cher but she has to be a bit threatened by the younger gals or she wouldn’t make such a statement. I can remember Cher all the way back to her and Sonny and she was always a bit wild on clothing. When they had the TV show that was what was made the most of,,,,her clothing. All Bob Mackie too. Maybe not as wild on TV as in some of her videos. The pix you posted was really off the wall and think of how long ago it was made.

It proves again, that as long as you’re a Hollywood celebrity who is on the left of the political spectrum, you can get away stupid “politically incorrect” statements like Cher and Chris Rock have been uttering lately. If a female country western singer were to have referred to J Lo as a “Ho” she would be under attack by all sorts of “minority” groups. Cher and Chris Rock will get a pass as usual.

I’ll be the contrary one. I’m willing to make allowances for her ego. Most of her “ho” outfits from her TV show were high fashion at the time and some of the stuff she got away with wearing was ground breaking at that time. Or in other words she sees herself as an artist and the others as sellouts swimming in a sea of skank.
