Wanna see the left ignore the Pope?
Just wait until the Pope calls the idea of gay marriage evil:
“It is legitimate and necessary to ask oneself if this is not perhaps part of a new ideology of evil, perhaps more insidious and hidden, which attempts to pit human rights against the family and against man,”
See, leftists only like the Pope when he’s talking about the war being wrong and capital punishment being wrong.
But at this point, the Pope mentions gay marriage as being wrong and abortion as being wrong. Wonder how many lefties who loved the Pope’s anti-war views and anti capital punishment views will be bagging on him for calling this wrong.
Or they just won’t mention it at all, and you’ll have to drive spikes into your ears to stop the crickets.

Woot! Free spikes! Get ‘em while they’re hot!

Ignore him? Hardly!
By the way don’t confuse “leftist” and “liberal.” I’m the latter. Same root word as “liberty.”

I never gave a shnit what the Pope has to say about anything.

Well, see, here’s how it works with this leftist.
When the Pope says something I agree with…I agree with him.
When the Pope says something I disagree with…I disagree with him.
See? No spikes. It’s not really that complicated.

Funny bsti, I feel the same way about you.
Bal, you’re not a leftist, you’re a liberal.
There is a difference and I’ve explained it a few times

I must have missed it. But I sure would be disappointed not to be a Leftist. Can you gimme a link to one of the places you distinguished between them?

I’ve said it here and on stageleft, but I can’t find it. It was in comments. I differentiated between a liberal and a leftist a long time ago, though.
Leftists would be the equivalent of what you would call the “Far Right” or “Neo Cons” and not your average run of the mill libs.

Catholics may either feel some obligation or (in some cases) have to agree with the Pope, the rest of us don’t. If he says something I agree with then we agree, if he doesn’t, we don’t - it has nothing to do with politics.
Heck, I once even agreed with something Bush said (an admission that is probably gonna cost me my monthly VLWC stipend).
