More open and responsive? My ass…

MONTPELIER, Vt. More than a year after the collapse of his presidential campaign, the fight over public access to Howard Dean’s gubernatorial records goes before the state’s high court next week.

[...]

Dean had asked as he left office that the records be sealed for ten years. The Washington-based group Judicial Watch sued to gain access to them.

Ahem…

When DNC Chair Dean went apoplectic while he was running for President over the top secret energy policy meetings Dick Cheney was having, that was the buzz around Washington. The Bush administration being secretive again. A closed government. An unresponsive government. What do they have to hide?

Well it turns out that former Governor of Vermont, Howard Dean, had his own set of secret energy policy meetings when he was Governor. The text and records from those meetings? Sealed in a warehouse in Montpelier, guarded by armed guards. What’s in them? Well, nobody knows because Mr. Dean has been keeping them secret since they were put there.

Now Judicial Watch is going after those sealed records.

Amazing how the guy who wants an open and responsive government is keeping the same things secret he accused his opponents of keeping secret just one year ago. Wonder if the media is going to bother with the story and question the shadow government Dean was running? I mean, they sure eat up the “evil Bush” stories. How about the “clandestine Dean” stories?

Nah. There won’t be any. In fact, the source for this post is probably going to be the extent of the “outrage” you’ll get over this one. It’s amazing what you can get away with when you do exactly the same thing, as long as you have a D after your name.
