Okay, Pro-Abortion Folks…

Most pro-abortion (since I refuse to use euphemisms, I will no longer refer to those folks as “pro-choice”) folks love to call pro-lifers on the carpet and belittle them. Why? We’re told that we cannot reconcile our views, which some of us base in religion, on abortion, with our views on the death penalty.

In other words, how can we pro-lifers be pro-death penalty?

Very simply.

If we’re to take the pro-abortion folks on their assumption that we base all of our views in the bible, then they lose. Clearly.

In the bible (and I’ve been nice enough to provide many translations courtesty of the Online Parallel Bible (Genesis 9:6):

Whoever sheds man’s blood, his blood will be shed by man, for God made man in his own image. WEB

Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: For in the image of God made he man. ASV

Whoever takes a man’s life, by man will his life be taken; because God made man in his image. BBE

Whoso sheddeth Man’s blood, by Man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God he hath made Man. DBY

Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. KJV

Whoever sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. WBS

Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God made He man. JPS

whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man is his blood shed: for in the image of God hath He made man. YLT

Now I wonder where in the bible it urges us to murder children in utero.

I must’ve missed that section somehow.

One could argue that God commanded the deaths of many innocent children,
Example: Hosea 9:16 Yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.

Here’s an arguement I found somewhere.
” he issue then, becomes this: even though Christians shouldn’t kill babies, so long as they believe in Jesus, they will still remain saved if they do, and if they confess their sin, God will forgive this transgression. And, the result of killing this baby is the guaranteed salvation of its soul, which Jesus said was more important than its life anyway. What’s one more forgivable sin, when the result is the eternal salvation of a soul? But, what about the 1 in 4 babies that would have gotten saved anyway? Weren’t they cheated out of life? Well, yes, but they still have an eternity of bliss awaiting them in heaven. And since heaven is so much more wonderful than earth, what’s wrong with getting there a little early?”

And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.

God sets commandments and breaks them. What sort of example is that?

Interesting you bring up the book of Hosea, particularly chapter 9.

Just for reference, let’s look at the entire chapter, not just the verse you chose to quote.

That chapter talks about how Israel, in many ways had turned its back on God, and how God was condemning its people for it. In numerous examples throughout the books of the Old Testament, God warned Israel not to turn their back on Him.

In the New Testament, particularly in the first and second books of Paul, Paul urges the same things of Corinth and their sinful and indulgent ways.

God sets commandments, but He doesn’t break them. He’s the ultimate arbiter and the only one who can rightfully punish transgressions.

    But don’t forget Matthew 5:39:

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

    Or Romans 12:19:

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

The fun thing about the Bible is that you can find scripture to support pretty much any position.

The fun thing about the Bible is that you can find scripture to support pretty much any position. “If” you take the Scripture out of context, and do not conceder the whole of the Bible, with the results it clearly declares to be truth. The Bible never lies because God can not lie and the Bible is the living word of God.
John 1:1-3 declares it in text and throughout it.
