The partisanship in the Senate has gotten out of hand.

You can bet that because Senator Bayh and Senator Kennedy, neither of whom I’m a big fan of, sponsored this bill, that’s why every single vote against it was a Republican. Instead of doing what’s right, they did the political thing.

Regardless of what you think about the current armor situation on the Humvees in Iraq, there should never be a concerted party effort to vote down a bill for spending on our troops. Would I pay more taxes to support our men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan? Without a second thought. Would I pay higher tolls at a bridge or something? Yes. Would I do whatever it takes for the government to come up with the money?

Absolutely.

We can never spend enough on our troops that are in active theatres of combat.

Never.

So it comes as a major shock to me that the GOP, the party of the strong military, would so overwhelmingly vote down this measure. No amount of logic, spinning, or CYA is going to make this sit well with me.
