Give Me a Damned Break

Is the rolling up of the sleeves supposed to make people feel better?

not trying to be contrarian, but it was 90+ degrees today, with high humidity. doubtful he’s trying to make anybody feel better by rolling up his sleeves, he’s probably just trying to stay a little cooler. just a hunch…

I don’t know… He’s accused of showing a lack of leadership, then shows up rolling up his sleeves with a gaggle of firefighters…

You may be right, but that’s a very cool coincedence.

As you can tell, I’m none to thrilled with him lately.

I can tell, and I totally understand. :-) He’s made me wonder lately. For all the leadership he showed 4 years ago, I’m made to wonder if it’s really the same guy??

If it walks like a lame duck, and quacks like a lame duck, it’s probably a lame duck.

This is very much a stage-managed presidency. It’s not so much the rolled up sleeves (although clearly that makes him look much more like he’s “hard at work”), as it is the entire scene.

We all know that the President of the United States doesn’t just casually saunter down the street. Oh. And look. Five rough and tumble firefighters are here, too. And they’re not completely freaking out about WOW it’s THE PRESIDENT!

It helps to imagine somebody from White House Media Relations in the background, shouting out stage directions.

That’s the part the bugs me: while there’s no time to “play the blame game,” there’s plenty of time to orchestrate feel-good photo shoots like this one. Of course it MAKES SENSE. I just wish these guys were better at handling real disasters, instead of what they DO excel at — Public Relations.

For christ sakes, it’s hot as shit down here and the guy rolled his sleeves up.

Stop looking so far into shit, people.
