In the aftermath of Katrina, while many of us were outright furious at the ineptitude of the response, many on the left took the opportunity to remind us that the rest of the world was “laughing at us” the entire time. We were told that the world was astonished that what happened could happen in a country that wasn’t a third-world country. We were told that the lack of a concerted effort to protect black people was causing them to rape and pillage and murder each other. We were even reminded by Wolf Blitzer that the devastating destruction was saddening because the people involved were “so poor and so black.”

The left reported each moment with giddiness. As things got worse, the left got happier. Yay! Rape at the Super Dome! Yay! 200,000 deaths! As soon as the death toll numbers came out, and the numbers were below 2,000, the death toll wasn’t as important anymore. Then people started exploring census numbers, and it became increasingly obvious that black people didn’t suffer more than anyone else down there because they were black. They suffered more than anyone else down there because there are significantly more of them than any other race down there. The critics dropped that criticism.

In France, right now, we’re seeing riots akin to that of a third world country. There was no unexpected natural disaster that was poorly planned for or poorly responded to. Just a gang of angry muslims growing and growing and causing chaos and destruction.

What’s that you say? The media isn’t telling you that they’re muslims? I’m shocked! SHOCKED I TELL YOU!

In fact, that’s true. They aren’t. “Paris Unrest” seems to be the favorite term du jour. In fact, I’ve read multiple stories on the situation, and almost every one of them refers to the rioters as “youths,” “northern Africans,” “young people,” or “immigrants.” Why is it that they’re not identified as what they are? Muslim animals? Get on me if you want, but I’m not saying all muslims are animals, just these muslims. If you can define people who would burn a crippled woman for kicks as anything but animals, there’s something wrong with you.

So now we’ve properly identified the “youths” involved in destroying France. The ones that appear to be on a jihad that everyone, save for France, saw coming. So now what? Well, who knows. The greatest leader in the entire world according to the anti-war left, and a man of tremendous conviction, Jacques Chirac has done exactly nothing to stop the rioting, probably for fear of inflaming the arab street (after all, they can torch and burn, but you wouldn’t want to offend them). It should be interesting to see if his friend from across the Rhine has anything interesting to say, after all Gerhard Schroeder was quick to jump on Bush after he got his ass handed to him in the election with regards to Katrina.

I would also be interested to see where all the left-wing blogs are on this. So far, they’re nowhere. In fact, many of the same policy wonks who were all over the US because the world was laughing at us are eerily quiet about this gang of murdering torching looting muslims that are destroying Paris.

I wonder if the fact that they’re muslims and that they’re doing all this in Paris has anything to do with the left’s silence.
