While Boing Boing was in a huff about Bill O’Reilly’s comments about San Francisco, they just kinda embellished a little with the title of their post on it.
Bill O’Reilly would like terrorists to blow up San Francisco’s Coit Tower
Wow! He does? Can you find me one piece of proof to that effect?
Boing Boing never actually bothers to back up this hysterical and obviously false claim, instead Freulander cites the passage from the transcript of the show that offended him so.
O’REILLY: Hey, you know, if you want to ban military recruiting, fine, but I’m not going to give you another nickel of federal money. You know, if I’m the president of the United States, I walk right into Union Square, I set up my little presidential podium, and I say, “Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you’re not going to get another nickel in federal funds. Fine. You want to be your own country? Go right ahead.”
And if Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we’re not going to do anything about it. We’re going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead.
I would imagine Mr. Freulander is nutso over the last paragraph of that citation, but take a look at what he says. Does he say anything akin to, “I want you to blow up the Coit Tower?” Absolutely not. What he does say is, “If you do it, we aren’t going to do anything about it.”
And you know what? He’s damned right.
San Franciscans protest every war that comes down the pike. No matter what happens, no matter what it’s for, and no matter why it’s being done, they protest it. San Franciscans eliminate the constitutional right to bear arms for their citizens. Frankly, San Franciscans have no interest in fighting a war or protecting their country in any sense of the word (unless of course their metrosexual mayor is protecting the country from the horrors of gays not being allowed to marry, in which case, they get stirred up really easily). Now they want to ban recruitment in high schools in San Francisco. If you don’t want to allow your citizens to be part of the military, why should the military waste it’s time protecting you? Much has been made by the left with regards to Iraq and the horror of some poor farm kid from Iowa protecting everyone else, and how they don’t know better. Well? Why should they protect San Francisco?
The story of the grasshopper and the ant rings true. While the grasshopper parties and plays, the ants prepare for winter. When winter comes, the San Franciscan grasshopper has no food and starts mooching off the ants.
The left hates O’Reilly because he has the balls to say what others think but wouldn’t dare say. Frankly, he’s spot on about the idiocy of San Franciscans, and while Boing Boing would like to smear his words and make him out to be some ranting lunatic, what he said is quite honest and open. He never asked Al Qaeda to bomb the Coit Tower, but he did admonish the city for failing to act in its own protection.
And I applaud that.
I guess the best part of being Boing Boing is that when you’re a liar like Freulander, you don’t have to actually back it up because there aren’t comments on the site anyway.
