You have to have some sort of brain damage to follow the threads through C-Net’s website.
No matter what Steve Jobs has up his sleeve for Macworld tomorrow, there’s one thing he won’t have to worry about: any immediate threat to the iPod.
One of the questions that emerged early in last week’s monstrous Consumer Electronics Show was whether someone–anyone–would unveil an MP3 player that could honestly be considered a viable competitor to the iPod. The answer, at least among those companies that have rivaled Apple in the computer arena, was a rather pathetic no.
This from a publication who just named the Creative Zen Vision:M the best product in the whole damned show!
Creative Zen Vision:M
iPod killer? With a brighter screen, better battery life, and more features, the Creative Zen Vision:M certainly has the goods to give the iPod a run for its money. In addition to a voice recorder and an FM tuner, the $330, 30GB Zen Vision:M supports a wide range of video formats, works with a growing number of online stores, and is compatible with subscription services. Cementing it as our Best in Show pick is its winning design; any product that cares to take on the stylish iPod must be able to turn heads. Though it’s thicker than the iPod, the Vision:M boasts a sturdy, comfortable feel, a rainbow of color choices, and glossy good looks.
So there are no threats to the iPod, but the best-in-show Zen Vision:M has the goods to give the iPod a run for its money. Unless a run for its money isn’t really a threat, C-Net just proved how useless they’ve become.
