I know this was probably posted tongue-in-cheek, but it demonstrates a serious lack of understanding:
He has no problem signing legislation that prohibits anonymous trolling on the Internet but legislation prohibiting torture and abuse are an issue.
Our good friend Stageleft was referring to the part of the Department of Justice appropriations bill that adds harassing e-mail to the already existing phone harassment laws. The problem with Stageleft’s silly comparison is that this wasn’t a separate law, it was included in an appropriations bill, which means in order to strike this out, the bill would’ve had to have been voted down in its entirety, and I’m sure the DOJ funding is more important than a stupid little addendum that’s never going to be enforced anyway.
This never would’ve made it to the President’s desk otherwise.
So in other words, he’s not specifically targeting internet trolls while not dealing with the torture issue, contrary to the impression that our good friend up North would like us to have. We here at our own “bunker” think that Stageleft needs to continue to focus on his own elections and his own government before he starts peeking across the border at anything going on down here for writing material. There seems to be a host of issues that need to be dealt with up there and worrying about little ole us ain’t solvin’ ‘em.
