Bias? What bias?

Posted at 4:26 pm under Liberal Bias

Hmmmmm… ABC News Producer John Green apparently doesn’t like George Bush…

Way to be completely objective there, Johnny Boy…

Oh, and don’t bother questioning the authenticity of the memo. According to Drudge:

A friend of Green’s at ABC says Green is mortified by the email. “John feels so badly about this email. He is a straight shooter and great producer who is always fair. That said, he deeply regrets the sentiment expressed in the email and the embarrassment it causes ABC News.”

Yeah. Really fair.

Come on, we all know there is no such thing as a “completely objective” person. So he hates Bush, and sent an e-mail (not a “memo”) from his Blackberry to a colleague. Big whoop — all people have political views. Green’s personal feelings have nothing to do with his ability to serve as a news producer. I guess I don’t see any smoking gun here.

If you believe that people are fully able to put their own biases aside and be objective, you have a whole lot more faith in humanity than I do.

That’s a good point, and I agree. I don’t believe that people are able to completely put aside their biases and be objective. This is actually the crux of my point. There is no such thing as complete objectivity, and to call someone out who works in a supposedly “objective” field for sharing personal opinions off the record doesn’t make sense.

A good example of this was the “objective” (then) Florida Secretary of State Katherine “I’m going to WIN” Harris who certified her state for Bush in 2000. Might her bias have influenced her decision? I guess we’ll never know…

  4. Vinny Says:

You would think with all the buzz about Katherine Harris and the constant hammering, her malfeasance (as she’s accused) would’ve resulted in charges being filed. Certainly, had she done something wrong to harm the integrity of a presidential election, President Bill Clinton or the Justice Department would’ve done something about it.

Her decision was completely valid according to state law. That horse is dead now.

    “Bush makes me sick.”

That statement is evidence that Green has removed *all* objectivity from his opinion of the President’s actions.
