Well? Here’s your chance!

Posted at 7:41 pm under Ironic

I’m waiting, and I think I’m gonna have a case of cardiac arrest on my hands if I wait any longer. I mean, I’m a patient guy and all, but there are certain undeniable truths in the world, and one is that patience is a great character trait.

I may be patient, but I’d prefer an answer anyway.

I’m sure all of you remember the 2004 Presidential election. Surely you remember how badly John Kerry got his ass kicked, but that’s beside the point here. You probably also remember the big criticism of George Bush by his opponent and his willing accomplices in the media.

We were reminded on numerous occasions that Iraq was keeping us from dealing with the real threats posed by Iran and North Korea. We were told that under the leadership of John Kerry, we would give Iran the green light to build a nuclear reactor so we could watch everything they do. Whatever the immediate plan, we were guaranteed that Iran would be dealt with because they provided a greater threat to the US than Iraq.

So let’s take all of them at their word.

The only problem is, I can’t find any of them to ask them.

Iran has become increasingly belligerent and threatening. Moreso than they ever were in 2004 when they were deemed the biggest threat in the world by Bush’s opponents.

So where’s the action?

Where are the speeches?

How are the people who ran on a platform of the opposition not dealing with a problem planning on bringing this problem to the attention of the american people?

And before you bring in the fact that the Democrats don’t control either the House, Senate, or White House, I’m not only talking about action. Have you heard one Democratic speech emphasizing the threat of Iran and the fact that we need to deal with it in some fashion?

Not me; not even from John Kerry, the purple-heart winning courage-filled junior Senator to Ted Kennedy, who has also been uncannily quiet. Iran is at the forefront of our security radar and is beginning to look like a seriously dangerous threat. Where’s all the leadership from the Democrats that they claimed was lacking from the President?

I’ll tell you where. It’s cowering in fear of offending the Cindy Sheehan wing of the Democratic Party, proving as many have always said; Democrats are incapable of dealing with pressing security issues.

And if I’m wrong, demonstrate it for me. Show me the Democrats getitng together on Iran and trying to solve the problem.

What do you care what the Democrats say or do regarding Iran? You didn’t support them in the election, so start worrying about the leadership from the guy you voted for, or lack of it.

This is typical. When the Republicans make everything a big mess, start to carp about the Democrats. That’s the old red herring trick.

DirecTV got rid of Opus and Anthony. Heh-heh.

  2. Vinny Says:

Because all we heard about from the Democrats was the threat Iran posed.

What are they doing about it?

Make no mistake you straw man slinging dope, I’m not saying the Dems have to fix it, but they sure had a lot of plans before the Presidential election and have been awfully silent since.

Or are plans only plans when they can get you elected?

    And it’s Opie, stupid.

    Opie.

Ed just proved your point for you.

    I love moonbats.

    War! Fear! Nukular weapons!

Feh. I’ve said all along that Iran was the real threat. However — they’re not the threat that is being trumpeted. If a real president were in power — say, Clinton or Gore or Kerry — we’d be dealing with a diplomatic solution, not rattling nuclear sabers.

The problem the Democrats are going to have to face is cleaning up the mess of eight years of ShrubCo. Alienated allies. A pissed off Middle East. A shattered deficit. Ruined healthcare.

I could go on, but you know the truth, even if you refuse to admit it.

I’m not trying to cover up anything.

In the election season, all we heard about was the solutions the Dems have. I have yet to even hear one speech, see one interview, or read one article about how Democrats think we should deal with the problem. Instead, we keep reading how George W. Bush is endangering the world.

    Fine.

How would you do it better?

The Democrats have no position save for “It’s Bush’s fault.” For a party of intellectuals and enlightened folks, we sure don’t hear a lot out of them.

    Whoopdeedoo.

I guess we’ll hear about the solution:

    a. After Iran nukes Israel.
    b. After a suicide bomber hits New York.
    c. After we attack Iran with a nuke (which I think is an awful idea, btw).

We’re at a point where we need an alternative idea, and the party opposite the one in power isn’t providing one.

    Great leadership.

I’m not arguing that the Dems aren’t doing anything. They’ve not done a lot to impress me.

However, there has been more happening than what’s been reported.

And Kerry has been quite upfront in things of late.

He’s an infinitely better choice than a chimp who won’t fire his incompetent SecDef.

And Kerry has been quite upfront in things of late.

    And his solution is?
