Hateful Harpee Disassembled
The problem with the left in this country is that they use the word bigot so often that real bigots are either harder to define or there is no real way to identify them. To the left, someone who disagrees with gay marriage is a hate-filled bigot, proving that they really have lost all context for their remarks.
If anyone would like to see what a real hate-filled bigot looks like, take a look at this utter disassembly of a real hatemonger, Shirley Phelps-Roper.
That’s a hate-filled bigot. That’s how you interview them. You don’t treat them like their point of view is some important alternative viewpoint that must be heard. You smash them into the ground like plantfood.

I came to your blog to hear the AOL call (trust me, I hear you on that one- I would have gone apeshit though if it was one of those Indian representatives- when I hear one of them I want to rip the phone off the wall). I came across this one, and I just wanted to point out something-
That is Fox News. Established rightist news station. I don’t think we can disagree on that.
However, you must realize that the guests that Fox News brings from the Left are predominantly weak, unknowledgable, and oftentimes a caricature of what the mainstream left really is. You will not by any means ever see a heavily belligerent, uneducated or otherwise uncivilized counterpoint from the Right on Fox News, not ever- they pick the fringes of the Left, those who are supposed to ‘represent’ them, and increase angst.
I hope you can realize this and not just bash the Left for what Fox News so skillfully orchestrates.

Shirley Phelps Roper is a hateful right wing zealot and bigot. When I refer to the left in this post, it’s to compare Shirely Phelps Roper to someone who disagrees with gay marriage. The left is so intent on calling people bigots they don’t realize that it dilutes the term for people like this shrill and nasty woman. There are real bigots in this world, and it’s best to save that term for when we actually see one.

Immediately BAN anyone that comes to the defense of this nutbag. Roper and her ilk are scary repugnant freaks.
Love the blog!

Shirley Phelps has obviously some form of a mental disorder. She does need help. It’s too bad she is also poisoning and brainwashing her childrens’ minds as well.
Many people who are against gay marriage are just not educated on the subject. They do not understand. Most people are just not informed of the complexity and biology of human sexuality. Being gay is NOT a trend, a fad, a hobby, a fetish, an addiction, or something done out of boredom. Some people seem to think this. People are born gay, there is NO choice involved. They know since they were small children. There has always been gay people and there always will be.
A percentage of the population will always be born gay. It is a natural biological variation of the human species.
Gay people are human beings, who love and have relationships. They were created by God to be themselves…to be gay. They want the same things in life as straight people. To be frank, it’s not straight people’s business if a gay person wants to get married. They are human and deserve all the rights and protections of a loving relationship like everyone else. Imagine if someone told YOU, you couldn’t get married, It’s none of their business.
The only thing different today is that gay people are not hiding anymore, they are just like everyone else, this is a fight for human and civil rights. It is the only right and moral thing to do.
Education is the key, not name calling.

The only real way to deal with these people (though undeservingly non-violent) is to completely ignore them. Giving air time to their views is not only an abomination but also feeds their cause and gives them an even more righteous sense of duty. It’s like when the KKK comes to town to demonstrate. When the media shows up to watch their message, no matter how bigoted, backward, or otherwise, it makes it to more ears and is possibly given more credence by other stupid people. Media stays away, it all falls on deaf ears and they go away. THAT’S what needs to be done with her and her “church”. Quit pasting their mugs across national television and on the front pages and they’ll have no audience, captive or otherwise, and have to go back to Kansas. That or just shoot them. It would make great tv.

Oh my gosh. My head almost exploded right there! The sliver lining of the dark cloud here is that free speech still reigns in America. I just wish that hate-filled-Damian-nanny-looking woman was in another country.

Roctavius, I disagree. The way to expose these people as nuts, is to allow them a forum to talk. All they got to do is let that freak flag fly and people will turn away from them in droves. XM Radio has a talk show called “Ron And Fez” and they have had the Phelps family on quite a bit. They basically try to talk sense to whichever representative calls, and then at some point they snap and go on a 20-30 minute rant. Happens every time. Ron and Fez don’t edit anything, and then the next two hours is spent fielding calls asking how they can help bring down Fred Phelps and his psycho family. They have never gotten any pro-Phelps callers in her multiple appearances. Her on-air rants helped to organize the “Patroit Riders” (A group of bikers that now offer “protection” at military funerals to anyone that wants it by forming a wall blocking the Phelps family…) The best way to expose these folks as crazy is to let them show us what the believe. Good people won’t be “converted” by their words, good people will rise up against it.

Roctavius and DM, your opinions are both of equal value. By no means should they ever be prohibited from exercising free speech. But we don’t have to listen to them. In the space of 50 years, there have been about 4 converts to their cause. Maybe 6. Anyway, the figures are so tiny that there’s no cause for alarm. I don’t foresee the USA ever being overrun by Phelps Phoolishness.
I indulge in a fantasy wherein there’s a complete press ban on them. No newspaper, radio, or TV coverage whatsoever. They’d HATE that! And when they appear in the streets, everyone ignores them. No one reacts in the slightest. Nobody even glances in their direction. Everyone behaves as if they don’t exist and as if they’ve never existed. Eventually, they dry up and wither away from lack of attention.
You see, they feed, like vampires, on others’ hate and disgust. They love it! They love it when someone screams at them , or quotes the Bible at them, or threatens them! In their minds, that’s proof that they’re God’s prophets, because all of God’s prophets are despised by Hell bound sinners.
Don’t fall into their traps. Don’t let them bait you. Just ignore them. If you can’t do that, refrain from engaging in any verbal battles. Just smile and wish them well. They don’t expect that.
