Marketing Is Everything

Sony’s latest ad campaign for the upcoming PSP, White. While I don’t think the ad is necessarily the start of a race war, you have to wonder about the wisdom of something like this…

Seems like a silly idea to me. What do you guys think?

It does look pretty racist to me. Cool site Vinny. Keep it up.

  2. Jenny Craig Says:

Rather than worrying about somethign that you’ll ultimately have no control over anyhow, how about you stop downing the cheeseburgers and begin excercising for once in your life? I’ll give you a stipend to join a gym if you wish…I’m sure many people here will as well…

  3. Jenny Craig Says:

Final thought — if you were to take off some pounds, you might find something better to do than make nearly 10 blog posts…in one day…on a national holiday no less… Feeling lonely today? That should be one of the first [or maybe last?] signs that things should change…

  4. god damn Says:

hey jenny…its ironic that you’re here to be reading and subsequently on these posts, so….? anyway, congrats on the “fat” jokes. you’re on the cutting edge of 4th grade.

  5. P.J. Onori Says:

I think filing this under the ’stupid’ category says it best. Seriously, I really would have loved to hear how they came to this end.

Speaking of filing things in the stupid category, ‘Jenny’ fits in perfectly.

  6. Candace Says:

Gee, Jenny makes me want to run right out & sign up & spend, spend, spend. What a twit.

And I agree, I wouldn’t call the ad racist, but brilliant it’s not.

  7. Bob Says:

That ad is real jacked up. Someone should (will?) be fired. It isn’t risque, it’s risq-rascist. Of course, it is obviously attention grabbing.

And Jenny: Vinny’s a hobbyist blogger, hence the blog posts on his day off – it’s what he enjoys doing *in his spare time*. Sort of like how you enjoy cruelly insulting your fellow human beings “anonymously” on the Internet – in your spare time.

  8. Belf!!! Says:

Ok, somebody help me. Where’s the racism? It’s a black kid whose attention is grabbed by something white, in this case an ostensibly white chick. Again, where’s the racism?

  9. Kur Says:

I always find it funny when people go on blogs or forums and say how sad it is that people have all of this time to write about something on them. I wonder how they found time in their obviously busy day to go online, go to that perticular site, read through the posts, then comment on them.8O

  10. S.D. Says:

I LOL when I saw that. I have to agree, I don’t the adv was bad per se, but I do have to ask “What were they thinking??”.

“Jenny Craig”?? What is up with people???
    Nuts!

  11. Belinda Says:

That is the stupidest billboard…I keep trying to imagine the pitch meeting for that idea! I mean, this is a huge company we’re talking about, so imagine how many people it took not only to come up with this idea, but then to lay it out, and then, worst of all, to APPROVE it! Wow. That’s a lot chances to catch the stupidity…missed.
