I read the link you posted on the school dress code violation. I will say that that there is one of the many reasons I am strongly against public school “dress codes” (fancy term for the word uniform). Freedom of speech is for everyone, regardless of age. On the day of 9-11 I think it strongly represents the and should be remembered in whatever way someone feels if it helps them come to terms and heal from it. Children especially should be able to express their feelings on this day. A moment of silence in the school is not enough for the children to express their feelings – it’s a moment of silence, not a moment of verbal expression for how they feel.

I’m not a huge fan of the ACLU but I would love to see how this issue resolves. Maybe if these students win this could be a jumping off point for banning all mandatory public school “dress codes”.
