Sometimes the truth squeaks out…
So… John Kerry (who, in case you didn’t know, served in Vietnam! I know, shocking, right?) has finally let slip, in a moment of unsurpassed candidness, what he actually thinks about US troops. Apparently, he thinks they’re all crap students who failed at school and didn’t work hard enough.
This isn’t really open for interpretation, and his words are very straightforward, direct, and concise. Here they are:
Or maybe they end up in Vietnam with three purple hearts and no Form 180 so everyone can partake in their bravery?
Now I know… We can’t criticize John Kerry (who, I don’t know if you know this, served in Vietnam) because he was in the Navy and is therefore an expert on all things military and naval. That being said, it’s nice to see that Kerry’s (who served in Vietnam) real opinion has finally come forward. He thinks nothing of the saps that are there because they’re there as a consequence of them not working hard enough in school.
Whether you’re for the war or against it, even the most strident Bush-hating card-carrying far-left liberal loon would have to admit that a remark like that from a US Senator, particularly one like John Kerry (who, in case you forgot, served in Vietnam) is absolutely 100% unacceptable.

Ya know, if he keep insulting everyone who is not as perfect as he is, he’s not going to be in office much longer; voters are eventually going to be sick of the cow dung he keeps shoveling.

It doesn’t surprise me and it is less than one would hope to see from anyone, let alone a US Senator disrespecting our military personnel.
Time and Newsweek have cynical covers and typical article coverage for their pre-election issues. Negative tripe appears to be readily available in copious quantities.

I don’t know if Kerry’s explanation of his statement is true or not, but compare these two phrases:
1. “…you get stuck in Iraq.”
2. “…you get us stuck in Iraq.”
They differ by one easily missed word, but convey totally different meanings. If he meant what he actually said, then he’s a shithead. But it could just as easily have been a goof. Who knows? But it’s no surprise that the Republicans have jumped on this as their definitive “proof” that: OMG…C WE TOLD U TEH DEMOCARTS HATES AMERICA!!!1
In the meantime, George Allen allows his goons to physically attack one of his constituents, in public, right in front of him; and not one Republican candidate (to the best of my knowledge) has publicly denounced it.
Ah… election season in America.

Republicans seized on this? You’re kidding right?
This story was out there long before a Republican said a single word about it.
No one is using this as a “Democrats hate America” proof of anything, although if you want to fight that battle, you’re more than welcome to. I think it’s more to the point that Kerry (who served in Vietnam) is constantly portrayed as hating the war but loving the troops and this is pretty clear evidence of what he thinks of those stupid failures who didn’t work hard enough in school and did a poor job.
As for George Allen “allowing his goons to physically attack” anyone, use your head for two minutes instead of your suddenly partisan angry heart.
Do you really think those guys who grabbed him and threw him to the ground did so after consulting with Allen himself?
And did you bother to note that the guy is a notorious shit-starter (something I’m sure the campaign folks didn’t know, but so what? He was still starting shit here). Would it be so out of the norm for a guy who’s screaming things and getting a little close to a politician to be hauled onto the floor by his neck or otherwise?
I know… Allen is a Republican and an obvious racist because he used the word Macaca (which many bullshitters claim to have known all along) but let’s be honest here… Nothing there warranted the exposure this story is getting.
Not a single thing.
So if you want to compare a US Senator’s staff throwing a heckler to the ground with a US Senator calling our troops stupid and lazy, cool.
While you’re at it, if you want to call a US Senator sending gross e-mails to a page and being universally condemned (including by me) to a Senator who actually screwed a male page and was then re-elected for years and called a hero by certain other Senators, let’s go.
Oh, and just for the record, if your explanation is true, and Kerry’s claim is that Bush was the stupid one and that was a swipe at the President, then that’s all well and good…
Especially coming from someone who didn’t apply himself too well and ended up in Vietnam:
The irony of him calling anyone stupid is palpable.

Dude… angry partisan? Nothing about my comment was angry. I guess I should have peppered it with smilies or something. Partisan? Maybe, insofar as I believe Republicans have sacrificed the soul of their once respectable party to the neocons whose destructive policies are hurting this nation. But that’s beside the point.
The fact is, Republicans are seizing on this: every talking head on conservative radio, the President, the White House Press Secretary, John McCain, and John Boehner are those who spring immediately to mind.
As for Allen, shit-starter or no, there is no excuse for beating up someone for thinking differently from you. Even if he’s shouting. And though Allen did not explicitly tell his goons to attack, he saw the incident and did not try to stop it, which he could have done easily by just speaking up. And yes, I do think unprovoked physical violence against another human being is more disgraceful than what Kerry said — even if Kerry actually meant it. That’s not partisanship, that’s just common sense.
The rest of your reply is putting words in my mouth. I never mentioned the “macaca” episode, nor did I call anyone a racist. I also did not mention Foley, but maybe your heart got the better of your head on this one too…

Definitely an after the fact creation. Listening to the whole quote with that added correction doesn’t even make sense. They’re implying the Senator was trying to say the president is an uneducated dummy as a way of scaring kids into getting an education? Doesn’t pass the smell test. He was using the possibility of going to Iraq as a way to scare them.
Just as the Democrats seized on Limbaugh’s comments last week - and Limbaugh isn’t even an elected public official! So your side is allowed to seize on quotes, but not the opposing side?
Guess what? It happens all the time, and it has nothing to do with party. There are stories from both sides of the aisle where over zealous partisans (or just really tough security) went over board with protesters.
November 1st, 2006 at 4:03 pm
Absolutely.
Wouldn’t you?
And as for John McCain, well, don’t you think that maybe he had a right? Especially considering Kerry said his only critics were chickenhawks blah blah blah? Dude, it’s an election year. Just like Foley was the most scandalous thing ever to happen ever, and just like Macaca (a word no one who tells the truth could say they knew) was a racist scandal, and just like Harry Reid who rails about ethics has more ethical issues than anyone in the Senate… And just like Paul R. Nelson (Repub from Wisconsin) is slinging cheap shots and insults at his opponents fast and furious… Dude… What the hell did you expect? This is all these idiots (read: idiots on both sides) ever do.
My problem with Kerry is that he’s blaming everyone else for the shit he said.
Now, back to Starks for the last time. The guy is a shit starter. He got too close and he was subdued. He wasn’t “attacked,” he was restrained. Did you watch the video?
I did.
They asked him to move.
He didn’t move.
They subdued him.
Unprovoked?
Not even close, dude, although I know you’d like to paint this rabble rouser as some victim in the grand scheme of things.
Hell, watch it here if you don’t believe me. He brought it on himself. When you’re that close to a government official and trying to get up in their face, and they ask you to leave, you leave.
Duh.
Or you could just keep attacking and then just pass the story along to the media who’ll handle all the spinning for you (and, judging by the looks of things, do an admirable job of it).

OMG are you kidding! I just watched the video Vinny provided! I assumed this was at a press event or other public engagement where lots of people were asking him questions and he was willingly answering them. That is what I get for trusting the print media to report this correctly! This “protester” ran through the entourage, approached a government official in a hallway, and started hurling negative leading questions at him! Of course he should have been wrestled to the ground - you can not do that!
Imagine one of those Swift Boat Veteran protesters doing this exact same thing to Kerry and maybe you’ll figure out who was really in the wrong!

After Kerry’s idiotic comments concerning the military and education, I am not really sure I need to add anything to this image… Enjoy! ……
