Man Enough to Admit a Mistake
Last year, during the illegal transit strike that the thugs at TWU Local 100 perpetrated during Christmas, I made numerous references to the uneducated rude obnoxious animals that ran the token booths and how they made $60k a year and how ridiculous that was.
I was told that “not all of them make that kind of money,” and other blah blah BS.
They were right. Apparently an untrained savage sitting in a glass box flipping people off for 8 hours a day makes a paltry $21.23 per hour. Assuming no night or weekend differential and no overtime, those poor souls only make $44,158 a year.
Cry me a river.
With the contract in effect, those poor underpaid souls will be making $48,963 a year ($23.54 an hour).
I really try to relate to the animals before I criticize them. As the contract negotiation wore on, we heard the horrible painful stories of families that couldn’t make ends meet and how they were completely underpaid for their work. Mind you their jobs require no education, no exertion, and for the most part doesn’t even require any kind of common courtesy toward passengers / customers. For this non-demanding job, these savages make almost $45,000 a year and stand to make almost $50 by the end of 2007.
For this, they had a strike. For this, they inconvenienced millions, wrecked Christmas for many businesses who need it to make their annual sales goals, and kept people away from their families as they fought to get to jobs they couldn’t afford to take time off from.
In the meantime, the microphone-rushing head savage, Roger Toussaint, is still making almost twice that plus expenses ($90,000 + $30,000 in expenses).

Anyway, I’m glad that I got to see that today, and I’m glad that Gothamist posted the salary listing. It proves exactly what I knew all along: the people working for the TWU and the MTA really don’t have a whole lot to bitch about and should keep their mouths shut and be grateful for anything they have gotten considering the lack of skill that most of their jobs require.
It isn’t a racial issue, it’s a common sense issue no matter how much the savage thugs try to spin it. I may have made a mistake and thought it was worse than it was, but the fact that someone with no education who sits on their ass all day makes more to start than a teacher ($39,000) and an NYPD police officer ($32,700) and a NYC Firefighter (Also $32,700) is enough for me to say that every single one of them needs to count their blessings and shut their uneducated mouths.
