The Best Frozen Pizzas
They say DiGiorno. My personal favorite has always been Red Baron, the 4-Cheese variety…
After deciding on the spice and pizzazz of pepperoni, we found eight contenders. We opted for regular crusts over the newer thin-crust versions.
DiGiorno ($6.99 for a 28.3-ounce pie, Mollie Stone’s) commanded the field, ranking high enough points to enter the Hall of Fame, an honor reserved for products that score 80 or more out of 100 points in blind tasting.
“Crisp crust with crunch of cornmeal, topping is a good blend of tomato, cheese and pepperoni,” said one taster. Other comments: “Nice sauce, good balance of cheese and crust,” “good crust, crisp, lots of pepperoni.” One panelist found it “a bit bready.”
To each his own. I love pizza in all its many forms (frozen, slices, any maker, English Muffin style, and so on) so I imagine you couldn’t lose with any of the pies on this list.
