What do you call a security researcher who’s out of touch?
How about a moron?
Has anyone noticed that most of the people who call Mac users and advocates “fan boys” and “zealots” are either idiots, uninformed, or uninformed idiots?
Aside from the fact that if Windows wasn’t around there’d be no need for people like the pseudonymous HTRegz (that’s another thing I noticed… “Security Experts” rarely use their real name, instead resulting in 1334 handles and so on) but that’s neither here nor there. Let’s look at the post in which he beats up on Artie MacStrawman.
Just so we’re all on the same page, Artie MacStrawman is a parody personality based on what idiots like HTRegz thinks of Mac users and advocates. MacStrawman (the name is pretty obvious, but he’s not bright enough to get it) believes that OSX is impregnable, Steve Jobs is never wrong, and the Mac is the perfect OS with no problems and so on.
So what happens when a security guru doesn’t get it? He proves his idiocy in a profound way, corrects it with a strikethrough, and then blames “OS X” users who “Can’t let you live down a mistake.” Before we get to that, let’s jump over to the idiot paragraph and see how out of touch HTRegz is:
First, dumbass goes on about virtualization, proving he has no concept of what it is, does, or who benefits from it:
They go on and on about the fact that you can’t install the “lower” editions of Vista in Virtual Machines… and you can’t… Do I see an issue with this?? Nope… but Paralells… (a third party vendor of Virtualization Software for OS X) is going on and on about it. That is to be expected… it’s their livelihood, the problem is that the “cult of mac” is accepting everything they say at face value… No one seems to realize that this doesn’t only affect Mac users.. it also affects anyone wishing to run Vista under VMWare or Virtual PC (The Home versions anyways)… but home is the keyword here.. Virtualization isn’t a “home” technology… It’s a business / research technology…. and in the business world, it’s generally limited to servers for the most part… So why should Microsoft license a home technology (Vista Home) to be used on non-home technology (Virtualization)…
Virtualization is a business technology? Are you a retard? Microsoft isn’t licensing it that way because it’s a “business technology,” they’re licensing it that way so you have to pay for a more expensive version of Vista. Secondly, for something that’s a “business” technology, almost every Mac publication has called Parallels the product of the year. Users / readers unanimously agree on almost every award voting site. In fact, unless you live under a rock, you could make the case that Parallels was the reason that Apple had a record-breaking earnings year.
But security experts don’t think that way. Then, he takes his shovel out and digs himself in even deeper, proving his stupidity is even more profound. After quoting Apple’s EULA which states that OS X can only be run on Apple computers, we get this:
That says I can’t install OS X on my PC, so why should we expect Microsoft to allow the opposite… In this case, I’d say that Apple hit first and that Microsoft is only responding in kind… so perhaps OS X users should blame their precious Apple (Yes… as usual, I’m typing this on OS X, so I can say what I want about the OS). For a decent explanation of the Vista licensing, check out this page.
You can’t use OS X on your PC because Apple designed it for their hardware that they sell. It’s a business decision. Use your brain. Does Microsoft make computers? No, and they lose no revenue if you run a legally purchased copy of Windows on your toaster. Apple, however, has a vested business interest in keeping you running their OS on their hardware.
Duh.
He continues on, bashing Artie MacStrawman:
and Artie MacStrawman’s Apple Orchard) but I’ll let you find the problems with them on your own… I’ll just leave you with this last bit of ignorance from the Artie MacStrawman blog, “I love Apple, Mac OS X is invulnerable and I’d jump off a cliff if Steve asked me to.” and “The Mac is utterly impregnable to attack. I’ll never switch to Windows or Ubuntu or something.” That sums up the thinking of most OS X users… a flawed sort of logic that really makes me believe that OS X is the new Linux… at least when it comes to cocky, arrogant, know-it-all users…
HAHAHAHAHAH Dumbass.
How about cocky, arrogant, no nothing “security enthusiasts?”
The funniest part is he shits on OSX and shits on Linux, all at the same time defending Vista from these know-nothing heathens that dare not worship at the temple in Redmond. If you think about it, he hates Linux pumpers and he hates OS X pumpers, but they do have one thing in common. They’re both running an OS that’s infinitely more secure than Vista.
Facts suck.
Well, the good news is that HTRegz beat up on a parody of Mac users that he helped create and never realized the irony in it. I think that alone proves the kind of idiot we’re dealing with there.
Nothing to see. Move along.
