Moving to a new Vista machine sucks…
Someone at ZDNet just discovered one of Windows’ glaring unfixed weaknesses…
“It took almost a full day to successfully move 5.6GB of user settings and documents to a Vista system. The Mac, by contrast, took less than an hour for migration of 60+GB worth of user settings, documents, and, unlike the Windows utility, the moving of applications from an existing Mac OS X install to a new one.”
I think the word “Duh” applies here. This is something Windows has never really done well, and it even spawned a separate utility by a third party called PC Relocator by Alohabob. The odd part is that Microsoft acquired Apptimum, the company that owned Alohabob, in the interest of making it easier to move to Vista. PC Relocator was known for being very good at doing this.
Well…
I guess we see how that worked out…
