Just Thinking

Please tell me people aren’t stupid enough to think that because it’s snowing and icy today that that’s some kind of conclusive evidence that global warming isn’t happening.

PLEASE tell me people aren’t this ignorant.

PLEASE.

That would be highly dense of them. This is the first snow we’ve had up here in Boston just about all winter.

I’m far from being in the GW camp, but I’m certainly not loading my gun with one bullet by using this as my only argument.

Otherwise, Vinny, I know I’m but a minor satellite in your solar system of influence, but I’d thought I’d drop a line. While I’ve been keeping up on it, my blogging at fifthphoenix.com has dropped off completely — a hardcore server crash can do that to you.

Now I’m hosted at this crapshoot called Second Rate Hosting; maybe you’ve heard of it. Look me up at Turning25.com; that’s the new blog address.

Anyway, I’ll let you get back to your vastly anthropocentric view of global warming. :)

Er, um…it — insignificant thoughts, not “it.” Whoops.

Indeed: Matt Drudge, at least, makes the point that a snowstorm in February is further proof that global warming is bogus.

Most of us in the “denier” category aren’t claiming “global warming isn’t happening”. We’re just saying man isn’t to blame. The planet has warmed and cooled its entire existence. One little blip from the sun would cause more warming than 6 billion tiny animals on Earth could if they were trying! And the sun could just as fast send us back in to a cooling era.

Science history is full of theories that had 90% acceptance that were later proved false. And the great thing about science is that its progress can not be stopped – not by religious zealots who believe it is destroying faith nor by those who turn scientific theories into an almost religious faith that must be defended at all costs.
