Cory Doctorow is all chest-puffy because PureTracks in Canada is offering a buttload of songs in MP3 format with no DRM.

So I go to PureTracks to check it out…

Anyone have an explanation? Particularly about the part that says they use the Windows Media format for their songs and require Windows. Surely you’ve heard of Microsoft. They run that excellent open DRM system and open platform that we hear so much about.

I thought Cory ditched his Mac because he wanted to “set his content free.” Why would he be promoting a system that requires you to have Windows and Windows Media?

Maybe I’m missing something. I’m open to explanations.

Update: Cory has updated the original article. Apparently there are no such things in the store, and the site is only available to Winders users. Lovely.
