		<description>In an election like this, votes matter no matter how you get them.  He and his wife will never admit that publicly but that&#039;s the way it works.  It could be that he wanted to avoid any undue speculation about her condition.  If the press got whiff that Mrs. Edwards was visiting a lot of doctors again, then they might start hounding her to find out what is really happening.  This way everything is out in the open.  I think John Edwards would have backed out if he felt his wife wanted him to.</description>
