Berlin (dpa) - A polar bear cub that has become Berlin Zoo’s top attraction was back in the limelight on Tuesday, a day after his public appearance was cut short because of illness.

Visitors were able to glimpse four-month-old Knut playing outdoors in his enclosure after his recovery from what zoo officials said was a bout of toothache.

Zoo officials said Knut is apparently cutting his first canine tooth and felt unwell on Monday, prompting his keepers to take him back to his cage after just 20 minutes in public.

It was the first time the cub had been ill since he went on public show March 23, drawing record numbers of visitors to the zoo.

Only a toothache. Thank God. I’d hate to see the little guy ill, or as “animal rights activists” wished, dead.
