All the actions that they're taking are designed to increase their profits and their control over media. My fervent hope is that alternative radio options like satellite or internet radio will force some of these big conglomerates to focus less on terrestrial and more on emerging markets. It makes sense for them - they want to distribute the same programs to the widest possible audience to lower costs. What's the best way to do that? Satellite or internet.
