Can we stop calling him brilliant now?

Cory Doctorow is upset that unprotected AAC files purchased from iTunes, for some reason, can’t be roundtripped by burning to a CD. Since he’s a moron, though, he doesn’t realize that you can achieve the same result by right clicking the file and converting it to an MP3. Said file contains all the metadata including all the album art.

Someone really needs to explain to me why people insist on calling this idiot brilliant.

Hey, Vinny. Are those songs you bought through iTunes, or music you’ve ripped from your own CD’s? I’ve found that when I try to convert iTunes-purchased music to MP3 I’m giving a DRM error, while CD-ripped music is fine.

They are purchased iTunes Plus tracks purchased from the iTunes store which means they’re unencrypted non-DRM’ed AAC files.
