I See a Monkey’s Ass Too
We have this piece of brilliance from Tongue Tied:
Local talk-radio host Big John is in trouble with a civil-rights group for comparing a black Daytona Beach commissioner to a monkey.
The comment was broadcast Friday, when the former Volusia County Council member told 1380 AM (WELE) listeners why he doesn’t think Commissioner Dwayne Taylor should be elected mayor.
“The higher the monkey climbs, the better you can see its . . ., ” John said. “And we’d really see Dwayne’s butt if he got to be mayor.”
Not only was John’s remark offensive, Taylor said Wednesday, but it was racist.
The remarks reminded some blacks of talk-radio hosts Rush Limbaugh — who was criticized for airing a parody called “Barack, the Magic Negro” — and Don Imus, who called the Rutgers University women’s basketball team “nappy-headed hos.”
John’s following is much smaller. He claims 234 listeners.
“This goes a lot deeper than what Don Imus did,” Taylor said. “If you want to compare something, compare something that’s not insensitive to that person’s race.”
Wait… Monkey’s are insensitive to black people? Come on, seriously. Is that the argument here? Are they realistically arguing that a black man cannot ever be refered to a monkey because that’s insensitive to the black race?
I’m floored.
But I’m not.
But I am.
Of course, had he said he scampered up that tree like ___________________, anything in that ______________________ would be interpreted as racism, so in reality I shouldn’t be surprised.

Rush’s “Barack, the Magic Negro” offended people? Magic negro is a literary term and he was using it in the correct context!

It’s funny because I knew I had heard that before. Turns out it was Song of the South. My wife wanted to see it because she heard how horribly racist it was so she made me grab it off some bit torrent stream from Thailand. In the end, she was left wondering what the problem was because Uncle Remus was actually one of the good guys in the movie.
Anyway, thanks for pointing that one out. People are so easily offended now it makes me sick.

[...] In the Post-Imus media world, this is called having an Imus moment. What this means is that insulting blacks is off the table, and apparently not so sly gendered comments about tit size and the age [...]
