This oughta go well…

Posted at 11:15 am under War in Iraq

So now the right who loved him will now hate him and the left who hated him will now love him… You win some, you lose some…

In his long-awaited memoir, to be published tomorrow, Greenspan, a Republican whose 18-year tenure as head of the US Federal Reserve was widely admired, will also deliver a stinging critique of President George W Bush’s economic policies.

However, it is his view on the motive for the 2003 Iraq invasion that is likely to provoke the most controversy. “I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil,” he says.

Greenspan, 81, is understood to believe that Saddam Hussein posed a threat to the security of oil supplies in the Middle East.

Oh man… Let the gnashing of teeth begin.

I saw them talking about that this morning on George Stephanopoulos, spinning it, of course, LOL.

Every time someone a political party hates makes a statement like that, the reaction is ALWAYS, “Look, it’s so obvious, even someone we hate and usually never agree with, like Alan Greenspan, agrees with us.” Why that makes any argument true is beyond me. Kind of like how the left loves (and the right hates) to cite the pope when he says we shouldn’t go to war, but thinks he’s a troglodyte when he’s critical of abortion.

Actually, it’s even worse than that in some cases where someone who the other party has hated forever and completely removed any possibility of the person having any credibility says something of interest, suddenly the attacked becomes instantly credible again.

Reminds me of when two warring candidates who smear the crap out of each other shake hands and call each other “great Americans” after an election.
