As some one who had a home destroyed by Katrina, i feel some what qualified to comment on this.
This isn’t the first time this happened. It happened over 30 years ago with hurricane Betsy. The levies broke we got 7 feet of water (i say we, but it was really my dad when he was about 15-17). There were conspiracies aback then about the levies being blown up to protect the city. Now a days its mostly accepted that that is not what happened, even though most people still have that in the back of their heads.
We lived in the same house from back them but we had it demolished this time. We lived in St. Bernard which was under the 9th ward (i don’t know any one who calls it “the nine” though. We got it worse than them from both ends.
The super dome stories are probably true though. That place was messed up.
