Vinny Dude, Lighten up! These are politicians. Although I’m a canuck I would be voting Democrat if voting in your election but as a person 14 yrs your senior I can testify that there is not a whole lot of difference between candidates of the same political persuasion. Hilary,Barack or Johm Edwards would be a huge improvement over Bush or any of his would be republican successors. I’ve had more than my fair share of politicians that I voted for break my heart. It’s a matter of voting for the lesser of two evils. Cynical, I know, but a reality. Politicians are equivocal by nature. Take everything they say with a grain of salt.
I don’t know that the speech, as it was written, was substantially brilliant or, for that matter, groundbreaking.
My thoughts:
The speech was certainly well written. More so, it was so brilliantly articulated in a way that few, if any of the other candidates could accomplish; A speech about “hope” and “change” delivered by a black presidential candidate whose progress as such has hitherto been unprecedented.
For me, it wasn’t so much the speech as it was the timing and execution of the event. The oratory was like a mold of Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy giving a speech at the possible culmination of 20th century politics, so much of which was built on hate and polarization.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
