Taylor Who?
Taylor Hicks might have won “American Idol,” but he doesn’t have his record deal anymore.
HicksTaylor Hicks was boosted by his “Soul Patrol” on “American Idol.”
The soul singer, who claimed the “Idol” title in 2006, has apparently been dropped by J Records, a label within Sony-BMG, which signs the show’s singers.
“Taylor is going to record on his own for the next album,” said J Records publicist Liz Morentin, who did not give further details regarding Hicks.

While it sold a respectable 699,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan data, it did not reach the 1 million mark, unlike all the other debuts from previous “Idol” champs. It also did not register a hit song, unlike other “Idol” winners.
Epic.
Fail.

I never really liked Taylor Hicks to begins with. I’m worried more about my Jordin. I sure hope she can recover how 19 Productions tried to make her the next Ashanti instead of the first Jordin Sparks.

I was curious to see how he’d do in the “real” world, and so far it hasn’t been impressive. I was hoping for success for him, but he just isn’t mainstream enough.
Funny how there have been so few success stories out of Idol…

Carrie Underwood has really been the only huge success.
Clarkson had her shot; then someone got it in her head that she could write music. *palm2face*
Kellie Pickler strikes me as being a vapid bitch, so I’m biased in offering any assessment of her.
I’d say Daughtry will move into Underwood’s category quite soon. Clay Aiken flopped; Reuben Studdard, too.
Who’s left — Fantasia?

I saw Constantine on Paula Deen’s show the other night. You don’t consider that successful?

I really like Taylor and wanted him to do well. I pegged him from the start as the one I wanted to win, but I didn’t think that he’d actually do it. Now all my friends who didn’t like him are mocking me. Ah well. I did buy his first album (pre-Idol) and it really really sucked.
I like Pickler’s persona and it really ticks off my wife. And Daughtry to me sounds like every other group out there. I was a fantasia fan on the show, but I haven’t actually heard anything from her since.
