Racial Statistics
In Indiana:
Barack Obama got 40% of the white vote and 89% of the black vote.
Hillary Clinton got 60% of the white vote and 11% of the black vote.
In North Carolina:
Barack Obama got 37% of the white vote and 91% of the black vote.
Hillary Clinton got 61% of the white vote and 7% of the black vote.
Hmmmm…
Some folks are voting purely on racial lines here…

Yeah, it would appear that way. I think it’s pretty much over for Hillary, though.

Never quit! Never surrender!
I can’t believe that the democrats could end up screwin’ it up again. I mean, I believe it, but I wish it weren’t so.

Eh, I really think that Obama has the electability factor when running against McCain.

Yeah, but I can’t just vote democrat if I am REALLY against his stance on certain things. Such as noted in Vinny’s recent entry “Barack wants to talk…”

Ostensibly, Obama and Hillary have the same positions on the issues.
Hillary is a little too hawkish, though, in her attempt to prove that she’s not too feminine. The ‘I wouldn’t hesitate to obliterate Iran’ comment was a little off-the-wall. Bill Maher said it best: “You think, in light of recent events, and considering the enormous consequences, a little hesitation would be good when it comes to obliteration.”

Oh, yeah I agree, they’re pretty much the same. It’s the ways in which they differ that upsets me. Health care and talking to nut jobs leaders. I think Barack is insane on those items.
And yeah, hearing Bill Maher in my head saying that is fairly funny. But reality is, this is a different country all together. Iran is different. We shouldn’t be negotiating. These people deal with force. If you can’t show power, they don’t respect you.

Yes, but we need to get back adhering to the idea that war is a last resort option. It’s not something to be taken lightly -something that Americans seem to have forgotten…

I’m okay with that as long as we don’t move into the crazy leftwing “war is never the answer” realm.
The reality of the world is that sometimes it is.

Certainly. But it’s often worth hesitating to consider -especially when viewing it in terms of ‘obliteration.’

I’d rather not think of it as hesitation, but in weighing the options. But I think her comment is being used to show her in a negative light, when you take it that way. I believe she was using it in order to indicate that she was open to doing whatever to support our allies and deal with our enemies.
Look, if I knew someone was going to attack one of my friends, I would say “You touch him, I’ll kill you”. Not “You touch him and I will respond in kind with a measured response”. Come on. Measured responses have managed to perpetuate the current calamity in the middle east. Honestly, I don’t believe in an eye for an eye. You take my eye, I’m going to make you sorry you ever came near me. I’ll take both your eyes and I’ll rip out your tongue. Then maybe you’ll realize that we’re not just playing tag… it’s not just back and forth “now it’s my turn”… one for one. It’s “listen, stop thinking that it’s acceptable to take my eye. Now I need to show you that I’ve got enough power and strength to destroy you if necessary”.
Peace won’t work when no one else is playing fair. Sometimes negotiations are in order, but with certain countries/cultures there is no use negotiating. If their end goal is to take my eye, and they won’t budge on that, then sorry, they’ve got to go.

“Measured responses have managed to perpetuate the current calamity in the middle east.”
I would say that the exact opposite is true. The problem with the war in Iraq is that it WASN’T a measured response. It was a rush to war -it was ill-conceived and ill-planned.
“Sometimes negotiations are in order, but with certain countries/cultures there is no use negotiating.”
I disagree with this as well. I don’t think that peace is an exclusive concept to some cultures. I think that, when you get to the bottom of things, every culture values peace over war. Unfortunately, the power to wage war and to negotiate peace is always placed in the hands of the few who never have to feel the hardships of war -they have only to gain…
