You could make a case that Lewis Black is along those lines, but most comedy now is done in small dive clubs with the occasional HBO special thrown in for good measure. That's just where comedy is right now. There are quite a few great comedians out there…

I figure Carlin is probably the last of the “theater show” comedians. You could make a case that Lewis Black is along those lines, but most comedy now is done in small dive clubs with the occasional HBO special thrown in for good measure. That’s just where comedy is right now.
