Rare = Gross
I love A Hamburger Today. It’s a top notch food blog in every sense of the word, and because of them I found out about Five Guys, which I consider the Cadillac of burgers at the moment.
One thing I don’t get, though, is their love of rare burgers… Check this shot out…

To me, that burger looks gross, but that’s just me. What do you all think? Like your meat still mooing?

I love a nice rare strip or rib eye. But burgers… not so much. I like them about medium.

I prefer my red meat to be as rare as possible. Cooking kills the nutrients and flavor of the meat. That burger looks great!!

I think the picture is a little misleading. It is rare but where I come from that would be medium rare. If the middle was more rubbery looking then I agree it gross but it looks like the meat is still crumbly. Happy Fathers Day.

Warm a steak by car headlights, and I’m a happy man!

Patrick, why am I not surprised.
I like my meat well-done. That burger does look disgusting. I’d send it back.
I’m not to happy with the bun either…

Damn it, Rye.
So you know…
I’ve been told by my room-mate (a chef at a four star resort) that it is common for a chef to use the worst piece of meat in stock to prepare someone’s well-done steak order.
I do agree, though, that the bun is a little shitty looking.

Honestly, that’s disgusting. I love beef too much for my colon’s own good, but rare? No freaking way. I may love my vampire books and movies, but I’m not a vampire - I’m not in to eating blood. Not to mention the increased risk of E.Coli from under cooked meat. No thank you. Gross.
