If you can’t pay for having your life saved you get substandard care or you go bankrupt. That’s a pretty damning truth about this country. I doubt we can fix it perfectly or that any other country does it perfectly but we can certainly do better. My dad, who votes against the Democrats every election, got converted to that side when his mother died and he saw all of the bills. (He, of course, still won’t vote Democratic.)

Good luck with your dad, Vinny.

Yeah man, I wrote to you before asking for advice about my hospital. They charged me $748 for basically the equivalent of a shitty checkup and a prescription….. even after they told me at time of admission it’d like $250.

I’m still fighting that, by the way.

I hope your dad is okay man, take care.

Amen Brother! I agree, the financial institutions can go under. We have a larger crisis going on and it is called health care.

A family insurance plan (good one) costs around $12,000 a year. A full time minimum wage job, with no health benefits, earns $14,872 per year. After taxes, one would be in the red for paying for family health insurance. Can’t this country and our elected leaders do us better?

As I’m sure you know, it’s seven HUNDRED billion dollars, which is even more egregious, considering the health care crisis in this nation.

Vinny you've been blogging since March of 2004 … you're too young for that type of behavior … get outside and get away from the computer! Life isn't fair and everybody dies … medicine, health care etc is WAY overrated …
