Donald Trump Defends Prejean, Skewers Obama, All is Forgiven

This morning I kinda got annoyed with Donald Trump in my post about the finale of Celebrity Apprentice. Frankly, by picking Joan Rivers, he earned some scorn and for all his talk about professionalism, integrity, and business sense, he picked the old broad because she was feisty.

Today, however, he stood behind Carrie Prejean and basically told all the folks clammoring for her crown to be taken to shut up because her horrid right wing evil homophobic views (that’s sarcasm for you slower folks out there) were no different than the stated views of God’s gift to mankind, President St. Barack Obama. You have to love this:

At a press conference addressing Carrie Prejean’s disputed title in the Miss USA competition, pageant owner Donald Trump compared Prejean’s stated views on gay marriage to Obama’s.

“It’s the same answer that the president of the United States gave,” Trump said. “She gave an honorable answer. She gave an answer from her heart.”

In her own remarks moments later, Prejean echoed Trump’s statement, telling reporters: “The president of the United States, the secretary of state, and many Americans agree with me in this belief.”

Damn effing right they do. I’m not one of them, but all the folks talking about how she doesn’t “represent” California with her views need to realize that the anti-gay marriage stupidity, Proposition 8, passed by 5% in the November elections, proving that more Californians agree with her than that heterophobic piece of crap Perez Hilton.

I for one support gay marriage. Not civil unions; all out gay marriage. I think it is a matter of equality and I think it is a stupid thing to fight over. That being said, the constant harassment, belittlement, and strong arm tactics the gay lobby is using to try and arm-wrestle equality in are doing nothing but alienate people, and some of them even support the idea (like me). I’ve never hated the people on my side of an issue as much as I hate the heterophobic hetero-bashing gay lobby pushing for marriage rights.

It doesn’t have to be this way, and it shouldn’t be.

Ok. I am so sick of all this hoopla. I have a simple question. What defines Gay Marriage. And what is the difference between a civil union and marriage?

As far as I am concerned, my parents have a civil union. Went to the courthouse, said I do, got a piece of paper and filed it with the Clerk. Civil Union meaning non-religious.

A _marriage_ is about a ceromony that takes place in a church. It is a religious sacrament. Being of the Orthodox faith, guess what? Will not happen in my church. Against the religion. And I am ok with that. I really am.

There is a seperation of Church and State last I checked. Well, theoretically at least. The state should not be allowed to deny a license. Nor should they discriminate on the basis of orientation.

But a marriage in a Church? That is up to individual Churches and not politicians.
