Rasmussen reports:
As the public has become more engaged in the debate over health care reform, support for the Congressional reform plans has fallen to new lows. Just 42% of U.S. voters now favor the plan while 53% are opposed. Those who oppose the effort feel more strongly about it.
And this:
From the beginning of the debate, voters have indicated support for the concept of health care reform and for some of the specific ideas that have been suggested. However, they are skeptical about what has been presented thus far in Congress. One reason is skepticism about Congress itself. By a two-to-one margin, voters believe that no matter how bad things are Congress could always make it worse.
There are also concerns about the timing. While Democrats consider health care reform the top priority for the President, Republicans and unaffiliated voters see deficit reduction as more important.
Translation: The more people read the bill, something their Congress critters won’t make the time to do at all, the more they realize this is an awful bill with lots of crap in it and a ton of spending we really can’t afford right now.
Translation Addendum: America is on to your crap, Mr. President.
An engaged, active, knowledgeable populace will never support this bill, and the longer the fight drags on, the more likely it is that we’ll not see its passage.
Of course, it’s not like the media will report this. Their narrative is quite consistent with whatever the White House says it should be. If the White House says people are clamoring for health care reform, the media reports it, facts be damned.
If you want to see just how much you’re being lied to on a daily basis, watch any nightly news program. They’ll tell you that you can keep your plan if you’re happy with it. Then read this and see what’s involved and what it would take for your plan to stay active. Ask yourself, “Would my plan administrator bother with this many hoops?”
Yet the media continues to distort, and the President himself lies like a rug again and again to garner support for the bill and try and ram this bill down your throat. This is the transparency and change you voted for, America. Can’t you see how ramming this bill down your throat is so much more transparent and hopeful than ramming the PATRIOT ACT down your throat?
America sees that the emperor has no clothes. Thankfully, they’re finally opening their mouth and not being quiet about his nakedness.
