Millions and millions of dollars of taxpayer dollars were spent sending the Great Onetm and the first lady to Copenhagen. Their arrogance permeated every interview about it and every story about it. If we were to believe the pundits talking about the trip, the mere presence of our President and his lovely wife would sway the committee to have the Olympics in Chicago. Doubt that at your own peril.
So it was with that communal arrogance that CNN took to the air yesterday to announce a foregone conclusion. Chicago would be announced, and we could get wall to wall coverage as Tokyo, Rio, and the other cities were all dropped at the wayside.
I give you Tony Harris of CNN.
“Chicago is out?!”
Yes sir, that’s what the man said. Chicago is out.
See the problem isn’t that Chicago didn’t win. The problem is that while rational people understood that there’s no such thing as a foregone conclusion (see New York City’s bid for the 2012 Olympics), while Obama’s lackeys both in the administration and in their official propaganda arm (otherwise known as the mainstream media) couldn’t even fathom that anyone would be able to resist the Great Onetm being there in person to usher in a new era of American greatness.
Instead, what most likely happened, is that the Olympic Committee didn’t appreciate feeling like they were being strong-armed into making a certain decision and didn’t appreciate the arrogance of the Ministry of Propaganda playing it like it was a done deal and all that stood in the way was a rubber stamp.
The administration played this one really badly, displayed some serious arrogance, cost millions of dollars in taxpayer money, and all so the President himself could wear a nice omelette on his smirking face.
Not a bad trip for a guy who didn’t have time to look into ACORN, meet with the commanders on the ground in Afghanistan, or look into the comments of his “Green Jobs Czar.”
For that, he’s too busy.
