I’m listening to a radio talkshow who’s point of view I agree with about 50% of the time. On said talk show, the host just explained to a caller how stupid he was to think we derived our rights from humans, and how you can’t derive human rights from another person because you’re all created equally.
Sounds good on paper.
Except, that this man has also spent the past 2 days ripping into the plan to try the 9/11 plotters with the same rights and protections of American citizens, who, by the admission of the founding fathers, aren’t being granted those rights by the government or a document that establishes that government, but from God, making the argument about human rights a universal one.
So our rights derive from God, not man.
Our protections derive from God, not man.
Yet man is saying who we can and cannot apply those rights and protections to.
A: This is the problem when you combine God and government.
B: It’s funny how I’m hearing this on the radio a mere two days after I addressed this same argument.
Sometimes I’m more prescient than I even give myself credit for.
