Left Proves They’re Liars

Reading around the interwebs this morning, I’ve come to realize one thing.

Obama’s supporters, and many on the left are completely full of crap.

Remember when the criticism of Bush was that he wasn’t paying enough attention to the ‘good war’ in Afghanistan? When he was distracting us by going to Iraq? When he wasn’t “getting the job done?” in Afghanistan? How when you criticized them for saying “Iraq was a bad idea,” they would invariably counter with “I supported the Afghanistan war!”

Well, here we are, a mere day after the President announces an increase in troops and a tentative disengagement schedule and all the left can do is whine bitch and complain that more troops are going to this war they supposedly supported when they were using it as a club with which to beat W. about the head for his incompetence.

Utterly unreal.

When Obama came into office he doubled the number of troops in Afghanistan. Now he’s going to double that number. In one year he has increased the force in Afghanistan by %300. Is it not reasonable to stake out the position that a 100% increase in resources is good but a 300% increase is excessive? If you support a $.5 trillion tax cut but don’t support a $1.5 trillion cut does that make you a hypocrite on taxes?

It’s possible that I’m misreading what you’re saying. Maybe you mean that “the left” has opposed all the troop increases since February. That would seem more hypocritical. And if they supported Obama’s Afghanistan policy during the presidential race then it is even more so. However, I still think it is a reasonable position to have supported more troops in Afghanistan after 9/11 or when the Iraq War was started or for years after and think it is not a good idea now. It would have been easier to shape the country half a decade ago. Now those same resources probably don’t accomplish as much with the new status quo.

It hasn’t been that long since the elections, Jeff. It only feels that way.
